THE ANGRY BLACK WOMAN
A Somatic Experience for the Anger that Never Got to Finish
There are moments you feel it rising.
The performance review that repackaged your strength as a liability. The person you loved who made your hurt feel like an attack. The room full of people who needed you calm so they could stay comfortable. The slow realization that you had been managing everyone else's feelings about your feelings since before you had words for any of it.
So you learned to swallow it.
Because you know what happens when a Black woman shows her anger. You have seen it. You have lived it. You have spent years learning how to make yourself safe by making yourself small.
But suppressed anger does not disappear.
It stays incomplete in the body. It breaks you down from the inside. It comes out sideways in the moments you least want it to. Or it turns inward and becomes the voice that tells you that you are too much, too sensitive, too broken.
Black women carryĀ the highest allostatic load (the cumulative biological wear and tear of chronic stress on the body) of any group studied.Ā The result of navigating racism, sexism, economic inequality, intergenerational trauma, not being believed.
We deserve to feel our anger fully, express it without consequence, and have it witnessed as valid rather than threatening so it stops compounding.
It is time to let it finish.
In this 90-minute experience we will:
- Understand why anger stays stored and what it costs when it does
- Meet the part of you that has been carrying it through an original practice rooted in Chi, the Igbo ancestral concept of your deepest and most authentic self
- Move the activation through the body using a full somatic flow accompanied by music
- Leave with tools to work with anger in daily life so it becomes information instead of a liability
Modalities you can expect:
- Brief education
- Experiential meditation
- Breathwork, bodywork and embodied movement
- Journaling
- Optional community sharing
No performance needed. CamerasĀ can be off.
Please be somewhere you can move and express freely.
Once payment is complete you will receiveĀ the Zoom link directly to your email.
Replay will be shared.
